NOLA art walk

I went to the St. Claude art walk last night and enjoyed seeing some new artwork. Along with several other artists, Jeffrey Thurston has some beautiful ceramic sculptures at The Front Gallery. At the UNO St Claude Gallery, my co-worker Jessica Goldfinch has paintings and sculptures.

Above is one of Jeff's sculptures with screen-printed glaze patterns.

This drawing is currently on view at the NOLA Jazz and Heritage Foundation Gallery near the French Quarter. It will be up through March 27th.

The drawing was inspired by my first home in New Orleans.

Figure sketching at NOAFA

I've been getting into the habit of figure drawing at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Drawing the figure is a lot like exercising- when you get out of the habit, it's back to square one!
